We are all about bringing the next generation of technology to our community. So we are excited to offer the following Geekend events and exhibits that will be open to the public on Saturday January 28th from 11:45 to 2 PM at The Guild Hall Campus.
Come see several uses of Gulfstream’s Immersive Realities Technologies (that’s AR/VR for short!)
This is THE showcase of kids creating not just consuming technology. Drop in to check out student coded video games, cast a vote for your favorite, and learn about the possibilities of coding.
This event, and the 3D modeling workshop before it, and the session with Chris Kelsey following it, are free and open to the public. If you are bringing children, please plan on staying with them for the duration of the event.
This free and open-to-the public session will teach students the basics of 3D modeling, starting with Geekend’s favorite 3D model, the Geekbot! After the session students will have a file they can take to a 3D printer to make their model come to life. If you are bringing children, please plan on staying with them for the duration of the event. Thanks to Shipt for the snacks.
Do you like to discover cool new video games? Stop by our Indie game arcade and sample some video games that have been created by Savannah area video companies and developers. Vote for your favourite game and the winners will receive a special prize from Indie Game Sponsor – Project MQ.
You will also have a chance to sign up for Project MQ – an indie video game discovery platform that will launch shortly.

In Quebec there’s the geekbecois, in South Africa there’s GeekFest, in Savannah there’s Geekend. Geeks have truly gone global. To get between all the groups of geeks there’s even Geeks on a Plane, organized by 500 Startups. What’s happening here? Does it matter if you don’t consider yourself a geek?
Miriam-Webster’s defines a geek as (1) a usually intelligent person who does not fit in with other people and (2) a person who is very interested in and knows a lot about a particular field or activity.Read More

Geekend in Savannah, GA, is a premier tech and creative conference for maverick entrepreneurs. For an investment banker, it’s an opportunity to be among the region’s most forward-thinking business owners and entrepreneurs. Managing Director Ralph Montgomery spoke at the event on November 15, 2014.
At FourBridges, our mission is to help Southeastern business owners gain access to the capital they need to grow. Access to capital is particularly important in the start-up environment, of course. Though our firm focuses on the middle market, we never forget that every middle market business was once a startup – so it is important for us to be plugged into this environment.Read More

It also causes your heart to overflow with passion and purpose. It consists of hundreds of people all teeming with the same feelings, engaging with others to pursue new challenges, making opportunities happen and pushing boundaries to the edge. Long story short, we became “Geekenders.”
Here are several things we enjoyed throughout the weekend…Read More
