Description: Innovative engineering requires cross-disciplinary collaboration. But what does this really mean, and why it is more important today than ever before? In a time of increasing specialization, intellectual and technical silos inhibit the spread of useful ideas and may threaten the development of impactful technology. There is tremendous potential for innovation, however, that is lurking at the intersections of traditional intellectual domains, from nuclear reactors to data science. Furthermore, framing technical innovation in terms of our ability to identify and leverage cross-disciplinary ideas should impact the way we look at education, career development and knowledge sharing in the STEM fields.

Is it the product? The concept? The person? The team? A magical combination of these factors? With millions of dollars of investments between them, this session will demystify what investors are looking for.
