Dr. Justin Pounders is an Assistant Professor in the Nuclear Engineering Program at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. His research combines physics, mathematics and computation to deliver improved predictions of nuclear reactor phenomena. In teaching, Dr. Pounders similarly focuses on critical problem solving skills at the intersection of engineering, numerical mathematics and programming. Prior to joining the faculty at UMass Lowell he spent four years developing multiphysics simulation capabilities at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory while teaching graduate courses at the University of Pittsburgh. He received his PhD from Georgia Tech in 2010.
