This Groundhog Day, get ready for (at least!) six more weeks of awesome. Geekend 2018 is slated for February 2 & 3, and attendees need not worry about seeing their shadows while they’re standing face-to-face with Savannah’s bright future.
Since 2009, Geekend has been a place where Savannah’s movers, makers, doers, thinkers and creators come together to be inspired, connect and collaborate. At the last event in January 2017, more than 400 participants explored the world from a new point of view with GulfStream’s demonstration of new AR and VR technologies; played locally created video games in the Indie Game Arcade; and watched hopeful startup founders take the hot seat at Pitch Circus, where they voted for the most promising business plans, inventions and video game concepts. Check out the full 2017 schedule.
Next year promises more of the same fun along with the presentations, panel discussions and hands-on workshops that make Geekend a staple in the local innovation economy.
Geekend sets the stage for leading voices in emerging technology, innovation and creative fields to share their expertise with a diverse audience of enterprising change agents and makers of good trouble. Sound like your thing? Submit your speaker application on or before November 15, 2017.
For some inspiration, read up on last year’s roster of presenters, panelists, and workshop leaders.
To kick off the surprises and thrills of Geekend 2018 a little early, the first 50 general admission tickets are up for grabs at $50 a pop. If you’re a thrifty and shrewd attendee — and, of course, you are — you should snap yours up now. Once these tickets are gone, the price will increase to $99.
College students can snag their tickets for just $30 with valid student ID, and those who want to bump elbows with Geekend elite can purchase a VIP ticket for $325, which includes an invitation to the exclusive speaker dinner and other special treats.
Geekend wouldn’t be possible without a crew that works hard to make it a success. Sign up to volunteer and experience Savannah’s tech and innovation showcase as an insider! If you commit to a 6-hour shift, you’ll receive a complimentary badge that will give you access to the rest of Geekend’s events and afterparties.
Geekend is a nonprofit event and continues due to the generosity of its sponsors. There are lots of ways to help, from monetary contributions to in-kind donations of goods or services to sponsoring a meal or cocktail hour. Want to hop on the sponsorship train? Submit your contact details, and a member of the Geekend executive team will be in touch.
